What Are American Heritage Girls (AHG)?

American Heritage Girls is a ministry aimed at building Women of Integrity through Service to God, Family, Community, and Country. This ministry provides girls ages 5 to 18 years with a balanced program focused on Faith, Service, and Fun. Troop WV0058, meets at First Baptist Martinsburg weekly in addition to participating in numerous community events throughout the year.

Each week, AHG meets for a night of faith, fun, and friends! The Troop girls recite pledges, creeds, and oaths that point them to being women after God’s own heart. Then they break into age graded groups that focus on earning multiple badges during the semester. AHG volunteers lead the girls in making plans and meeting goals for their annual service projects and leadership awards. All these AHG activities center on Scripture and pointing girls into becoming women of strong faith.

This year our troop will be pursuing badges in the Heritage, Arts, and Personal Living frontiers. Throughout the year, our Troop participates in a number of events including:

AHG National Day of Service: An annual tradition where Troops all over the nation pick various service projects to better their community.

DC Metro Area Team Camporee: A weekend long outdoors trip for girls and their parents where they work towards various outdoor badges including outdoor cooking, archery, and tent camping.

Operation Christmas Child: The Troop spends November gathering supplies and packing Christmas care packages to send overseas with Samaritan’s Purse.

Wreaths Across America: The Troop comes out to honor fallen veterans by placing flags and wreaths on their graves.

South Berkeley Christmas Parade: The Troop decorates a float and rides in the local parade spreading holiday joy!

Parent Info Meeting: September 1st at 6pm at FBC Martinsburg.
