Turn, Turn, Turn
Further Devotional Thoughts
The call to “turn, turn, turn” is not just poetic — it’s the central rhythm of the Christian life.
Repentance is more than feeling sorry; it is a reorientation of our heart, a daily decision to turn our faces toward the living God.
John the Baptist’s bold message reminds us that salvation isn’t inherited, nor is it earned by religious activity — it is received when we turn away from self and sin and turn toward Jesus.
Repentance is both decisive and ongoing. There is a first great turning when we trust Christ for salvation, and then there is a lifetime of daily turns as the Spirit conforms us more and more to the likeness of Christ.
It’s easy to slowly drift — toward distraction, comfort, success, even religious routine — without realizing how far we’ve moved from the heart of God.
The call is clear: turn back. The promise is sure: forgiveness awaits.
The thief on the cross had nothing to offer — no resume of good deeds, no baptismal certificate, no church attendance record. He simply turned to Jesus in faith, and Jesus welcomed him home.
Today, the invitation remains open: Turn your heart to Christ. Trust the Man on the middle cross.
